Basic rules
- All aerobatic competition flights must be flown inside defined space -
aerobatic performance zone called Aerobatic Box.
- Each competition flight consists of several sections - Figures. Each standard figure has prescribed shape
of flight trajectory and may contain some elements like rolls or spins.
But Freestyle figures depends only on your creativity.
- All figures and their elements together make up a Sequence. One sequence = one competition flight.
- Amount of figures in the sequence and their difficulty correspond to the Category of the competition.
- You can choose one or more categories for your competition flights.
- You have to fly two Programmes in each of your categories and/or just one Freestyle programme in Unlimited
category. Each programme has its sequence.
- The system for rating competitor's flights - Judging is according to the rules of real aerobatic with small
differences: The judge(s) see only two videos of your flight - from the cockpit and
the judges' position.
- The competition is off-line. So you can fly the sequence how many times you want and then send just the videos
of the best flight for judging.
- The time for flying and sending the videos depends on the programme you flight and it is different
for each programme. It is described in the page Timeline.
The boldly written terms are described in more detail in pages linked by the sub-menu.
Our rules are based on the real aerobatic rules. The basic document is on FAI pages:
Sporting Code Section 6 - Part 1 - Edition 2021 (PDF 5,4 MiB)
But you (as a pilot) do not need to read whole document - just only parts for pilots.
It means you have to know the Box borders, Aresti symbols for figures and something about scoring.
